Semi-Permanent Release Solutions for Composites

Semi-Permanent Release Solutions for Composites

Manufacturing success relies on each step of the process being crucial. At Chem-Trend, we don’t take chances. Our semi-permanent release systems, available in liquid form, link with humidity or heat and chemically bond to the mold. This creates a tough polymeric film that resists wear, chemicals, and heat. The cross-linking characteristic allows for multiple molding cycles before reapplication, minimizing transfer to the molded part.

Semi-permanent mold releases are versatile, ensuring smooth release for various molding resins in composite fabrication. This technology goes beyond a release agent, forming a system for optimal performance. Semi-permanent technology goes beyond being just a release agent; it serves as a vital part of a system to guarantee optimal performance. This usually involves a blend of the following components:

Common Problems Solved with this Solution

Addressing the significant challenge of poor gloss in the composites industry, Chem-Trend provides effective solutions to ensure consistently high gloss levels for molded parts. In situations where certain components demand elevated gloss, issues may arise post-molding, resulting in incorrect gloss levels.

To tackle this problem, Chem-Trend has introduced a specialized primer product designed for easy application on a clean mold surface before the release agent is applied. This unique primer establishes an exceptionally high gloss on the mold surface, which is then faithfully replicated onto each molded part.

To maintain this desired gloss level over an extended period, regular re-applications of a corresponding specialized Chem-Trend® mold release agent are recommended. The use of this special primer not only preserves gloss but also reduces or eliminates the need for flame-polishing of molded parts, offering a comprehensive solution to the challenge of poor gloss in the composites industry.
